In the context where innovation is regarded as a key driver of socio-economic development, research and development (R&D) serves as the foundation for enhancing national competitiveness. Recognizing this significance, the ASIA CONNECT 2025 International Forum has selected the theme “Strategic Investment in Research and Development (R&D): Driving Innovation for a Rising Vietnam” as the central focus for its discussions and policy planning.
This initiative serves as an essential scientific groundwork, providing the foundation for the presentations and policy recommendations to be delivered at the Forum. Through a systematic and practical approach, the research aims to shape new development mindsets, propose feasible solutions to enhance the effectiveness of R&D investment, and foster a culture of innovation among policymakers and the business community.
According to the plan, the research program comprises seven key components:
- Defining objectives, scope, and research subjects, clearly outlining areas related to strategic R&D investment and innovation.
- Developing the research framework and methodological approach to ensure systematic, scientific, and practical relevance.
- Reviewing successful policies and models at both domestic and international levels to draw lessons and identify directions suitable for Vietnam.
- Assessing the current state of R&D investment in Vietnam and selected localities, identifying strengths, limitations, and breakthrough opportunities.
- Conducting surveys and interviews with experts, enterprises, and regulatory bodies to collect empirical data and diverse perspectives.
- Organizing consultative seminars to gather input and feedback from relevant stakeholders.
- Compiling a comprehensive report and strategic recommendations to inform the discussions and policy proposals presented at the Forum.
With a rigorous research process, this series of activities aims to bridge theory and practice, enabling scientific ideas and technological innovations to be transformed into practical solutions for local and national development. It also serves as an opportunity for experts, policymakers, and businesses to share insights, contributing to policy refinement and the promotion of a sustainable innovation ecosystem.
The research outcomes will provide valuable data for the discussion sessions at ASIA CONNECT 2025, reaffirming the role of the UEH-ISB Talent School in aligning academic knowledge with socio-economic development – toward a more dynamic and innovative Vietnam in the new era.
